COMPUTER COURSES FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED PEOPLE
These courses are taught at the Social Centre for the Blind in Boxmoor.
The courses run on Tuesday and Thursday in approximately 10 week cycles.
Some courses may lead to academic accreditation.
Each course uses computers with "Window Eyes", a speech output programme for blind people, and Zoom Text screens to magnify text.
The syllabus includes:
An introduction to basic keyboard skills and
WORD PROCESSSING
for the beginner.
How to use the
INTERNET
and
E-MAIL
- the prerequisite is basic keyboard skills.
How to use the
MICROSOFT EXCEL
spreadsheet package.
OTHER COURSES AND ACTIVITIES AT THE SOCIAL CENTRE FOR THE BLIND IN BOXMOOR
YOGA
classes are held on Tuesdays at 1.30pm to 3.30pm
The local authority have recently moved these classes to the St. John's Road Sports Centre. Until further notice you will need to contact them for information.
COOKERY classes are held on Wednesday mornings. Please contact the secretary if you would like these re-started.
